Home Alone Safety Training

Home Alone Safety: When I'm In Charge (Ages 7-14) (2 Hours)
The Avon Free Library will host EPIC Trainings' Home Alone Safety workshop which is designed to teach children the importance of behaving responsibly when they are home alone. Topics include first aid, what to do when a stranger comes to the door, telephone tips, Internet safety, what to do during a variety of emergencies such as power outages. Also covered will be when and who to call in an emergency.

Knowing when your child is ready to stay home alone is a difficult decision, but preparation can make the transition much easier.

The course fee includes:
American Red Cross certified instructor
Student workbook
Safety Information Packet
Emergency Information Contact Sheet
House Rules Form (to be completed at home)
How to call 911/Poison Control Card
Child Print ID Kit: Stores fingerprints, photo, medical and dental records, DNA, and more

Dates: August 21, 2009 10 a.m.–12 p.m. and August 26, 2009 4 p.m.–6 p.m.
Location: Avon Free Library, 143 Genesee St. (lower level conference room)
Fee: $18/child ($30 for two siblings), payable to EPIC Trainings (payment due at training)
